Andrew Lutaakome Kayira Remembered

Posted on 07 March 2010

Adnrew_Kayiira1Dear Compatriots

On March 6, 1987, Dr. Kayira was murdered in cold blood. Saturday, March 6, 2010 marks the 23rd Anniversary of his death.

With his Uganda Freedom Movement Dr. Kayira was serious on liberating Uganda from dictatorship. With his UFA his approach was a surgical one. M7 with his NRA the approach was of a protracted and resistance war.

In early eighties Dr. Kayira landed a sizeable and effective consignment of armaments. Before taking any surgical moves with them he had consultation with M7. He suggested that he was going to hit Obote’s life nerve, the army barracks positioned in the Lubiri. He requested M7 and his troops to participate in the exercise of taking over Kampala and returning the country to the people. M7 refused to participate. Instead he chose to harass Kayira till Kayira could no longer see the light of this world.

This is one of the examples of  the effects of the ogu nenki syndrome (=who is this syndrome) which continues to bedevil Uganda. Kayira will go down in the history of Uganda for his advocacy of federalism that would help Ugandans to be proud of what they are and save Ugandans from being arrogant because of what they are.

Please, remember Dr. Lutaakome Andrew Kayira.

  1. Dr G.H.Kkolokolo says:

Thank you very much Prof A.M.M.Lugira for your excellent words on this legendary hero and committed Muganda nationalist, the great Andrew Lutaakome Kayiira with whom I worked on many occasions for the salvation of our nation. Had this man lived longer, Uganda’s history wouldn’t be the type it’s now! Kayiira was democratic, patriotic and ever constructive. He wasn’t tribal and he yearned for a united Uganda. He even recruited several Acholis in his movement (UFM). He was a man who feared nothing and nobody. And he had a special love for the Kabaka. It’s indeed very sad that he is no longer with us! But we will all long to remember him and his gallantry which contributed a lot to our country’s liberation. Yes, he must always be remembered! And within this scope we should persistently call on the authorities to remember Kayiira’s family and do something, on behalf of Uganda,in order to help especially his widow and all his children who are now living as paupers whereas our coffers have everything necessary to help them financially. No Ugandan would stand opposed to any concrete step taken in favour of Andrew Kayiira’s family.Dear all, team up in the spirit of nationalism and plead for Kayiira’s family!
    Kindest regards!

  2. Balyokwabwe says:

Dr Andrew Kayiira should be named a National hero for all
what he did in his deeds to wipe Fascism and Dictatorship in Uganda.
He was the first Ugandan to take up a gun to liberate our people.
As soon as M7 heard that a Muganda had gone to the Bush M7 sent Francis Bwengye to Kayiira to allow M7 join UFM and the struggle.
Evidentlly we all know why M7 was so scared for Kayiiras liberation struggle. He tricked him by coming near Dr Kayiira and put a stop to Kayiiras aspirations , Freedom and his life .

Ugandans remember when trumped upp charges were placed on Kayiira by M7. Kayiira was thrown in Prison by this man and later was released by a Ugandan Judge.
Ironically M7 came out with a statement to the massmedia that as far as M7 was concerned Kayiira was still guilty .
Two weeks later Dr Andrew Kayiira was murdered…….
May his soul rest in peace for he was kiiled first because he was a Muganda and secondly he wanted Uganda to have a true democracy .

  3. Bemba says:

    Baganda wake up.

Today there is a Baganda based fighting group that goes by the name The Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) based all over the country. They are daily fighting the Tutsi occupiers and their collaborators in Uganda. Sadly the Baganda commoners have fallen prey to the NRM notorious propaganda, calling these liberators Islamist insurgents. Because it is politically correct these days dictatorial regimes to call freedom fighters a terrorist provided, among the fighters there is ONE OR TWO fighters that are Muslims or with Muslim names.

Fellow Baganda if we fail to support our liberators again we will end up being used by these so called retired colonels or we will perish like our gallant son of Buganda Dr. Andrew Lutakome Kayiira assassinated defending Buganda and Federalism. Who also was baptized by the enemies of Buganda as a Catholic oriented who had no heart for Buganda.

Once again, fellow Baganda I remind you in Baganda culture you do what is right for Kabaka and country and report to Namunswa after the heroic action. This is why ADF is ready to liberate Uganda and Buganda. For him Nyanjatemanyiirwa told you long ago that he has set the fire. It is your duty to keep it burning and set Buganda and Uganda free.most of us are former Uganda Freedom Movement (UFM) and Federal Democratic Movement (FEDEMO) combatants, the young blood of Nkobazabogo, Gwnagamujje and many others.

Long live Ssabasajja, Cucu, Namunswa, Magulunyondo.

    ROMANS 8:18
For i consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

for the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God.

    for the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it in Hope;
because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of curruption in to the glorious liberty of the children of God.

Bazukulu banambi keep on, time is coming, Amazi gakulukutira wegaligakulukutide.
Buganda is in our blood for ever and ever.
