Namubiru Juliet Buganda Government’s official website reports that:
The minister for Information, Lukiiko and Cabinet Affairs in Buganda Government, Charles Peter Mayiga has urged people in Buganda to stop being cowards when it comes to issues concerning Buganda Kingdom.
The minister who was attending a Sunday service at Kitende Church of Uganda appealed to people to always come out openly to support Buganda’s developmental issues in order for the Kingdom to achieve its intended goals and objectives instead of shying away whenever Buganda is mentioned.
Mayiga also called on to people to work very hard in order to earn a living for their families which will lead to a stable and successful Buganda Kingdom.
The service was also dedicated to the life the late Kiberu Christopher who worked so hard for the church.
Canon Henry Ntulume from Nateete also appealed to the Christians to make choice in what they do, to identify good priorities and to pay school fees for their children to make them better citizens in the future who will promote Buganda Kingdom.

Aisha,
Thanks a great deal for this piece of news. I would, however, want to both agree and disagree with the Oweek. Peter Mayiiga.
I want to agree with him only to the extent that some few greedy and short-sighted Baganda like the Nsibambis, Khiddu Makubuyas,Edward Ssekandis, Tamale Mirundis, Katenda – Luutus, Aisha Kabandas, Gertrude Njubas, Kateregga – Musaazis, Kagole Kivumbis, J.B. Walusimbis, Byandalas, etal have willingly accepted to be used by M7 to sell their own brothers and sisters (read Baganda/Buganda) down the river for a few pieces of silver. It is a pitty that some people endowed with free intelligence and rich cultural backgrounds can afford to betray their own consciences for temporary gains from M7. To this extent, therefore, I do agree with the Oweek. Mayiiga that some Baganda have made themselves so cheap and low to level of selling their souls out of cowardice.
However, where I totally disagree with the Oweek. Mayiiga is on two counts, viz: 1) The biggest %ge of the Baganda from all walks of life (i.e. poor, rich, young, old, educated, not-educated, locals, diasporans, military, non-military, etecetra)have long since lost the “seal” of cowardice [read having both their right and left cheeks smacked]. This line that Baganda are cowards is a lie began and perpetrated by M7 and a cabal of his lunatic minders. If anyone sensible believes this lie, one then wonders how the so-called cowards [read Baganda] managed to help M7 fight and win his guerrila-led war in Luwero?!? Baganda are not cowards! When the Mengo-3 were kidnapped by the Kampala military junta for over a week, the Baganda back at home and many of us out here in the Diaspora were busy mobilising for the next inevitable action at all fronts. That is not cowardice, Oweek. Mayiiga!! I have been relaiably informed that the Buganda youth from all over the Buganda Kingdom and even those living in other parts of Uganda were about to seriously take immediate political action all over the country if the Mengo-3 were not immediately relaesed by that blood-thirsty military junta, only to be betrayed by the inaction/funny behavior of Eng. J.B Walusimbi. I was able to see with my own eyes the pictures of the Baganda people who braved the military junta’s intimidation immediately after the Mengo-3 had been released by the court at Nakawa. Many Baganda were out on the streets and hundreds and thousands of them accompanied the Trio up to the Royal Seat at Bulange – Mengo. During the thanks-giving services that were majorly organized in the Mainstream Churches, I was able to read of breathtaking stories that the churches were full to the brim one or two hours before the services began. During those services, the bishops and fathers openly denounced the military junta’s bare knacle politics of fascism and dictatorship, all to the thunderous clappings of the respective congregations. Those are realy not coward Baganda!! Recently during a Seminar organized by Omukungu Betty Nambooze and company at Bulange, we were able to follow via the auspices of the internet what was happening at Bulange that Saturday live. I was more than delighted to learn that lines of Baganda from all walks of life snaked their way from Kabakanjagala streets through the Wankaaki where they were being screened by the royal guards from as early as 6:30 a.m up to past 1900 hrs in the evening.Surely those could not have been Baganda whom one may erroneously describe as being cowards!!! The Baganda are a very brave people. Matter of fact, the stubborness of the Kampala dictatorship is even having the snow-ball effect of radicalizing the Baganda youth whose patience could easily run out and things down there get real nasty.
On the 2nd count where I want to disagree with the Oweek. Mayiiga is on the fact that Baganda are a hard-working people wherever you will find them. Certainly, the definition of “hardwork” in the current regime’s vocabularly has also had a paradigm shift. Those who can steal most from the government’s purse such as Mbabazi and all those other thieving goons with shopping malls and executive hotels within and around Kampala are considered to be the most “hardworking” folks. Oh, how pitiful!! But I do recognize the fact that there is a whole bunch of biting poverty amongst our folks, particularly those in the countryside whose coffee plantains, Banana gardens, vanilla shambas, cotton fields, cooperative unions, bulungi bwansi rodas, etecetra were deliberately laid to waste by the current fascist regime which thinks that the Baganda and Buganda Kingdom are their enemy # 1 owing to our earlier on privileged background in the economy and politics of Uganda.
But I can assure all the apologists of the reigning fascist and dictatorial regime that the kind of miserable situation they have put all Ugandans into cannot be permanent. Whether they like to hear it or not, their fascism and dicatorship will definitely crumble in a similar manner that of Milton Obote, Paul Muwanga,Okello Lutwa and Idi Amin’s did, indeed much sooner than they can anticipate! There is no any other way out for a people dinied of their freedom to be who they are supposed to be than to forcefully break out! It is just simple physics!
Awangaale nnyo ai Ssabasajja Kabaka wa Buganda Muwenda Mutebi II!
