Kenya Joins Land Grabbing Spree in Buganda

Posted on 31 October 2008

Under international law, an agreement is legal only if the associated transaction is legal. On Tuesday October 28, 2008, President Mwai Kibaki dragged Kenya into Museveni’s long illegal campaign to give away Buganda land without authorization from Parliament, City Council or Baganda. Kibaki and Museveni signed a protocol that would give the Kitante Courts land on Yusuf Lule Avenue to the Republic of Kenya. However a prominent Ugandan historian told us that the public land in Mulago area, including the piece that Museveni gave away to Kenya, is owned by Buganda and only under lease to Kampala City Council, according to agreements made in the 1950s and before.

DP’s Old Rivals Sebaggala and Ssebaana Team Up Against Nambooze

Posted on 27 October 2008

Kampala Mayor and convicted money launderer, Nasser Sebaggala, has declared “war” on Betty Nambooze, for what he claimed to be her disrespectful behavior towards him. Nambooze was the moderator of a Democratic Party leadership meeting that sat at Christ the King church conference hall. Problems started when, before the first item on the agenda was touched, Sebaggala demanded that Nambooze give him the microphone to address the meeting because he had to rush to another meeting. Nambooze resisted what was apparent indiscipline on the part of Mayor Sebaggala, explaining that the conference should follow the agenda and all speakers should contribute in the pre-determined order, to maintain a sense or organization.

Lamentations of Buganda (REMIX OF Lamentations, Chapter 5, The Bible)

Posted on 22 October 2008

It was great talking to you on Sunday and learning that your are so much better. My theory is that the anxiety around the event of October 8 and 9, 2008 might have pushed that blood pressure up. And who can blame you? So many people are incensed at how this man, who never stepped in Buganda until he was over 24 years of age can get to the point of treating Kabaka Mutebi like trash. Anyway, to calm myself down while doing something that you will like very much, I decide to adopt one my favorite chapters to Buganda’s situation. See below, my own “remix” of Lamentations, Chapter 5.

Nambooze Action Highlights Leadership Gap in Buganda

Posted on 21 October 2008

The host and live audience of last Saturday’s Mambo Baado, the popular town-hall style radio program on CBS Radio were quite embarrassed when rebuked by Betty Nambooze for discussing European football during a time of crisis in Buganda. Nambooze, who claimed to be coming straight from a hospital bed put the host, Ssozi Kaddu Mukasa, and his live audience to task to why they were pre-occupied with football scores at a time when Ssabasajja Kabaka Mutebi’s movements in his kingdom were being restricted by Mr. Museveni.
